After cutting the jambs to length i set the hinge jamb on a 3 8 inch thick shingle butt.
Doors before or after carpet.
If you re in one of these situations follow these instructions to install the trim after the carpet.
Cut out the carpet and padding with a utility knife to fit the block of wood that is slightly larger than the bracket.
Use a piece of wood that is the same height at the carpet.
I also make sure that there will be plenty of space to keep the bottom of the door clear of the carpet.
If equal height of doors is not critical set the hinge side of doors 1 2 off floor to tuck in carpet.
A really thick shag carpet can make it difficult to judge how high to place the trim.
Remove the carpet remove the door fix the water damage you would be amazed at what carpet hides i mean it is frightening to the wood subfloor mill work door jams drywall etc.
For that reason i cut both jambs to a length that keeps them roughly 3 8 inch off the subfloor.
Adjust the gap around the door and let the other side jam fall where it may.
Install the carpet install the carpet all the way against the wall.
Screw the wood into the subfloor and then install the bottom pivot bracket on top of it.
If you are installing a pre hung door and only one side is carpeting then it s easiest to cut off a bit of the bottom of the door before you install it.
Pull them off after drilling each hole.
Or you may be replacing the baseboards but leaving the carpet.
A few carpet fibers will stick to the drill bit.
Now that everything is fixed floor stuff and wall door stuff hang new doors and install new carpet.
After the fact you can also use an undercut saws to adjust the trim height.
The wood should be installed centered against the door frame on each side.
Step 4 secure the bracket track to the subfloor by screwing loosely into place using screws that are 1 2 inch longer than those that came with the sliding doors.
But with carpet that discrepancy is hardly noticeable.
