A gutter apron is installed on the corners above roof decking.
It is put under the shingles of an attic to flow water directly into the gutter.
The edge should be mounted running beneath the starter shingles extending a half an inch into the gutter.
According to most building codes and manufacturer recommendations the drip edge should be installed beneath the underlayment along the eaves of the roof.
